Engine Speed (Rpm) Sensor

  1. Raise left front wheel off of ground. Read individual measuring values in channel 15. See READ INDIVIDUAL MEASURING VALUES MODE in TESTS W/CODES article. With ignition on, turn left front wheel by hand and observe engine RPM displayed on Scan Tester (VAG 1551).
  2. If RPM is displayed, RPM sensor is okay. If RPM is not displayed, check for faulty wiring. If wiring is okay, replace PCM. See ELECTRICAL COMPONENT LOCATIONS  .
