- Ensure battery is fully charged, engine-to-body ground strap is connected, and all cable connections are clean and tight. With ignition switch in crank position, check voltage at starter solenoid wire terminal. If reading is 8 volts or greater, go to step 3 . If reading is less than 8 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage at Red/Black wire terminal of ignition switch. If reading is at least 8 volts, repair circuit between ignition switch and starter solenoid. If reading is less than 8 volts, replace ignition switch.
- With ignition switch in start position, check voltage at bottom (armature) terminal of starter solenoid. If reading is at least 8 volts, repair or replace starter. If reading is less than 8 volts, replace starter solenoid.
