Section 12 (Suspension - Front): Description

Front suspension is a MacPherson strut independent type suspension, with multiple links that connect strut to body and wheel bearing housing. See Fig 1
. This article covers vehicles equipped with conventional gas charged struts.
Various suspensions are offered as options. Coil spring/shock absorber combination is documented through the corresponding part number on vehicle data sticker. These are identified by Part numbers. Suspension version installed in vehicle is indicated by factory weight code on Vehicle Data Sticker (arrow). See Fig 2
. Vehicle Data Sticker is located at rear in spare tire well, and in Maintenance manual. Standard suspension installed is 1BA. For optional suspensions, see VEHICLE SUSPENSION IDENTIFICATION
