Camber Adjustment (Front)
NOTE:
Before attempting any adjustments, see PRELIMINARY CHECKS
and WHEEL ALIGNMENT PROCEDURES
.
Front wheel camber cannot be set separately. Camber can be evened out uniformly, by loosening subframe bolts and shifting subframe position until correct camber range is obtained. Use the following procedure.
- Working under vehicle, remove noise insulation panel.
- On convertible models, Remove outer front underbody trim. Remove front diagonal brace from under vehicle. See Fig 1 .
- On all models, LOOSEN, but do not remove subframe bolts No. 1 through No. 8. See Fig 2 .
- Slide subframe into respective position using a plastic coated tire iron. See Fig 3 . Press at center of subframe between subframe and body longmember. If no plastic coated tire iron is available, a standard tire iron must be wrapped with tape. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS .
- If camber is within specified range, install NEW subframe bolts at positions No. 7 and No. 8. Tighten bolts No. 7 and 8 to 81 ft. lbs. (110 N.m), plus an additional 90°.
- Install NEW subframe bolts at positions No. 6 and No. 5. Tighten bolts No. 5 and 5 to 81 ft. lbs. (110 N.m), plus an additional 90°.
- Install NEW subframe bolts at positions No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4. Tighten to 55 ft. lbs. (75 N.m).
- On convertible models only, install diagonal brace. Tighten bolts to 41 ft. lbs. (55 N.m).
- On all models, install noise installation panel. Recheck all wheel alignment settings and readjust as necessary.
CAUTION:
Manufacturer recommends replacing subframe bolts, if originals are loosed or removed.
