SERVICE
Prior to sale, for ALL A8L vehicles currently in inventory which are below the VIN listed:
- Inspect each Self-leveling sensor (see chart below) for a black dot located on the body of the sensor (arrow).
NOTE:
Sensors may be marked with more than one colored dot (i.e. a blue dot and a black dot). The black colored dot ensures the latest level part.
If sensors are marked with a black dot:
- Latest level part has been installed, no further action is required.
If sensor(s) do not have a black dot:
- Replace sensor(s) with latest version (with black dot).

CAUTION:

Prior to installing new sensors:
- Inspect the body of replacement sensor for a black colored dot (arrow). It ensures that this sensor is the latest level part.
NOTE:
Sensors may be marked with more than one colored dot (i.e. blue dot and black dot). The black colored dot ensures the latest level part.
DO NOT install sensor if a black colored dot does not appear on the sensor (arrow).
With leveling sensor(s) replaced as necessary and with the VAS 5051 Diagnostic tool connected:
- Use Guided Fault Finding to re-adapt the control position of the leveling control system.
- Select Guided Fault Finding and navigate through menus selecting the appropriate model, model year vehicle, body style, etc..
- Navigate to "J197 Level Control System, Control Module, Re-adapting Control position" (arrow).
- Select, then select the > key and follow instructions.
NOTE:
Be sure to submit one Hotline Channel report per vehicle.
