Selector Lever Handle, Removing And Installing: Installing
The selector mechanism could get damaged.
- Do not push the button -arrow- on the selector lever handle inward with the handle removed.
- The button -arrow- on the selector lever handle must stick out and cannot be touched when installing.
- Otherwise the handle or the shift mechanism pull rod will get damaged when installing.
A new handle is delivered with an assembly fastener. Pull out the fastener just prior to installation in direction of -arrow-.
-- Move the selector lever into "N".
Pull on the rod -3- to move the selector lever.
-- Fold the selector lever boot upward and over the selector lever handle -2-.
-- Turn the locking ring all the way in direction of -arrow-. The markings -a and b- no longer line up.
-- Push the selector lever handle with the button -1- in the direction of travel completely on the selector lever, do not touch the button -1- while doing this.
- When doing this, handle must engage into ring groove of the selector lever.
-- Turn the locking ring in the direction of the -arrow-, until it engages or the markings -a and b- line up, press the handle on again if necessary.
Danger of causing damage to the selector lever handle.
The locking ring can be turned only when the handle is installed completely.
If the locking ring was turned, then the handle is not properly locked. Only then may the button be pressed on the handle.
The button may have an increased resistance to pressure when it is pushed the first time after installing the handle.
-- Press the button -1- in the selector lever handle.
Button mechanism function test.
-- Switch on the ignition and shift to "R" and "S".
- If the selector lever positions cannot be reached, remove the handle again.
-- Pull the selector lever boot -1- down and clip in on cover frame -2- with Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26-.
-- Check the selector mechanism, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .
