-- Remove the bolt -1- for the right rear coolant pipe from the transmission.
-- Remove the left and right bolts -arrows- and remove the bracket for the Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor -V101- /Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor 2 -V189-.
-- Remove the bolts -2 through 6- connecting the engine to transmission. They are accessible from above.
-- Remove the left and right air filter housing. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
-- Place the Engine Support Bridge:10-222A on the left and right suspension strut tower, ash shown in the illustration.
-- Mount the assembly appliance as illustrated.
-- Attach the spindle to the engine lifting eyes and pre-tension the engine slightly.
-- Remove the right coolant pipe on the transmission. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
-- Remove the driveshaft. Refer to DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING FROM REAR FINAL DRIVE AND INSTALLING [0BC, 0BD, 0BE, 0BF] .
-- Disconnect the connector -1- from Transmission Mount Valve 1 -N262-.
Ignore item -2-.
-- Remove the left and right front muffler. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS .
-- Remove the left transmission mount. Refer to TRANSMISSION MOUNT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt -2- and remove the brace.
Ignore item -1-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the right transmission support with the transmission mount.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and then remove the heat shield from the right drive axle.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the left drive axle heat shield.
-- Remove the left and right drive axles from the transmission flange shafts. Refer to DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING FROM REAR FINAL DRIVE AND INSTALLING [0BC, 0BD, 0BE, 0BF] or DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING FROM REAR FINAL DRIVE AND INSTALLING [0BF & 0BE] .
-- Remove the steering intermediate shaft from the steering gear and push them both upward. Refer to Steering Intermediate Shaft, Removing and Installing .
-- Vehicles with hydraulic power steering: Remove the bolt -arrow- for the power steering hydraulic line from the transmission support.
Vehicles from MY 2014:
-- Loosen the fuse and press the locking mechanism downward in order to disconnect the connector -1- for the vehicle signal (CAN-Bus and terminal 15) on the Power Steering Control Module -J500-.
-- Loosen the fuse in the direction of -arrow- and press the locking mechanism downward in order to disconnect the connector -2- for the power supply (terminal 30) on the Power Steering Control Module -J500-.
All Vehicles
There is a risk of destroying the transmission control module (Mechatronic) with static discharge.
- Do not touch contacts in transmission connector with hands.
-- To discharge static electricity, touch the transmission housing (without wearing gloves).
-- Disconnect the connector on transmission by rotating screw connections counter-clockwise in the direction of -arrow-.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the Engine Speed Sensor -G28- and free up the wire.
Ignore item -1-.
-- Release the retainers in the direction of -arrows A- and slide the sleeve -1- in direction of -arrow B-.
-- Disconnect the rear emergency release cable from the front emergency release cable in the direction of -arrow C-.
-- Loosen the clamp -arrow- and remove the coolant hose from the left lower coolant pipe.
Use a cloth to catch any leaking coolant.
-- Free up the wiring harness on the ATF cooler.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and tie up the ATF cooler -1- to the side wit the hose/line assemblies -2 and 3- still connected.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the flange shaft mounting bracket.
The left flange shaft mounting bracket must be loosened so that it does not touch the catalytic converter when removing the transmission.
-- Remove the lower cover -1- from the transmission in the direction of -arrow-.
-- Counterhold the crankshaft with the Counterhold - Multiple Use:T10172A with Counterhold - Kit - Adapter 2:T10172/2 to loosen the torque converter bolts.
When mounting, turn the crankshaft only in the direction of engine rotation in the direction of -arrow-.
