Fluid Level, Checking
-- Press the brake pedal and hold it down.
-- With brake pressed, shift through all selector lever positions "P, R, N, D/S" at idle, retaining each position for at least 3 seconds.
-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit: SMN372500 under the transmission.
-- When the transmission oil temperature reaches 35 °C (95 °F), remove the drain and check plug -A-.
Some transmission fluid always leaks out when opening the drain and check plug -arrow 1-, regardless of the transmission fluid level.
-- Check if the overflow tubes are secure on the transmission.
If the overflow tube is not correctly connected, the correct transmission oil level cannot be determined.
-- Allow the excess transmission oil to drain.
- If some gear oil still leaks out at a temperature between 35° to 45 °C (95° to 113 °F) (due to additional warming), gear oil level is OK.
Every 30 seconds, a small wave of fluid exits the overflow pipe, regardless of the height of the oil level (Reason: cooling oil impulse to clutch.) This wave does not mean there is excess fluid and does not indicate the fluid level.
Do not reuse transmission fluid that was drained.
-- If the transmission fluid level is OK, perform final measurements, refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .
