Selector Lever Cable, Checking And Adjusting: Notes

• To check the selector lever cable for ease of movement, remove it from the transmission and position the removed end so it does not make contact anywhere.
• The selector lever is then moved and then the selector lever cable is re-attached.
• After that, the selector lever cable must be adjusted. Refer to Adjusting: .
• Do not grease the selector lever cable connection.

Checking

-- Move the selector lever into "P" position.

-- Loosen the adjusting screw -arrow- on the selector lever cable -1-.

-- Pry the selector lever cable -1- off the selector shaft lever -2- using for example an open end wrench.

-- Move the selector lever from "P" to "D/S" and back to "P" several times.

• The selector lever and selector lever cable must move easily while doing so.

-- Install the selector lever cable again.

-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to Adjusting: .

The selector lever cable must always be adjusted if:

• The selector lever cable was removed from the transmission.
• The engine and (or) transmission were removed and installed.
• Sections of the subframe mount were removed and installed.
• The cable itself or the selector mechanism was removed and installed.
• The engine/transmission position was changed, for example, were installed without tension.
