Side Window, Installing
- Pay attention to the repair information. Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .
- Required Tools and Materials for Removal and Installation. Refer to REQUIRED TOOLS AND MATERIALS FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Procedure
-- Prepare undamaged window for installation. Refer to UNDAMAGED WINDOW GLASS, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION , or prepare new window for installation. Refer to NEW WINDOW GLASS, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .
-- Prepare the body flange for installation. Refer to BODY FLANGE, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .
- Use One-Part Window Adhesive for Side Windows: D 169 300 M1 . If more than one window glass must be installed, the Two-Part Window Adhesive Kit: D 004 660 M2 can also be used.
-- Apply adhesive beads all around the molding. Refer to OVERVIEW - REAR SIDE WINDOW .
-- Apply adhesive to remaining bead on an undamaged cut-out window.
-- Insert the new window glass in the window opening and first press in with the centering pin on the D-pillar.
-- On windows without a centering pin, align the window lengthwise to the edge of the side panel and then insert it into the cut-out for the window.
-- Secure the window in window opening with adhesive tape.
-- Observe minimum curing times. Refer to MINIMUM CURING TIMES FOR BONDED WINDOWS .
Further installation is the reverse order of removal.
