Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Torque Screwdriver:VAG1624
- Use a commercially available socket, not illustrated
- ESD Work Surface:VAS6613
Procedure
- Use the complete repair kit when installing.
- A new control module may be installed a maximum of three times to a used hydraulic unit to ensure that the elastic seal seals sufficiently.
- Do not install a used control module.
- Excessive shaking (for example, dropping, impact) may destroy the control module. The control module must then no longer be used.
- The hydraulic unit threads cannot be re-cut to secure the control module. If the thread is damaged, the hydraulic unit must be replaced.
- If the bolts are difficult to install by hand or cannot be tightened to the tightening specification, then the thread is damaged.
-- Check the cleanliness of the hydraulic unit sealing surface if necessary clean with mineral spirits and a lint-free cloth.
- The hydraulic unit -4- with the pump motor and the connector -3- faces down.
-- Place the control module -2- carefully from above on the hydraulic unit without tilting.
-- Install the new bolts -1- by hand until the control module touches the hydraulic unit evenly.
- Replace the hydraulic unit if the bolts for the control module on the hydraulic unit are difficult to install or cannot be tightened to the tightening specification.
-- Tighten the bolts in two stages in a diagonal sequence.
-- Install the hydraulic control unit. Refer to ABS Control Module -J104- /ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
