Emergency Release From P

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Connecting Pin:T10027A

Procedure

-- Engage the parking brake.

-- Remove the center console insert. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE INSERT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- If equipped, remove the noise insulation from the shift mechanism.

Tip

• If the Connecting Pin:T10027A  is not installed, the parking lock will be permanently disengaged after pulling the T-handle. It cannot be re-engaged mechanically.
• It is then only possible to engage the parking lock electronically by pressing the "P" button.

Emergency Release, Activating

-- Insert the Connecting Pin:T10027A  into the opening -arrow B-.

-- Press the foot brake.

-- Pull the T-handle -1- all the way upward and hold it in this position.

-- Press the locking button -2- downward.

• The button must stay in the pressed position when releasing the T-handle. The parking lock is now permanently disengaged.

Tip

If the parking lock should be mechanically re-engaged, the Connecting Pin:T10027A  must remain installed.

Emergency Release, Deactivating

-- Pull the T-handle -1- upward until the locking button -2- springs back into the upper position.

-- Slowly release the T-handle.

• The lock will audibly return to its starting position at the same time. The parking lock is re-engaged.

-- Bring the T-handle -1- back into its starting position by placing the cable around the ridge -arrow A-.

-- Remove the Connecting Pin:T10027A  .

Further installation is performed in reverse order of the removal.
