Axle Alignment Procedure

The "complete alignment" mode must be selected on the Wheel Alignment Computer if an axle alignment needs to be performed together with the driver assist systems adjustment/calibration.

The sequence of procedure steps must be followed.

1 -	Drive the vehicle "straight" onto the alignment rack.
2 -	Initiate and lock the standard vehicle height. Refer to STANDARD VEHICLE HEIGHT, INITIATING AND LOCKING .
3 -	Perform wheel run-out compensation. Refer to WHEEL RUN-OUT COMPENSATION .
4 -	Check the maximum steering angle. Refer to MAXIMUM STEERING ANGLE, CHECKING .
5 -	Apply the Steering Wheel Scales:VAS 6458A to the steering wheel. Even out the steering wheel scales as close as possible to 0°. The steering must then be active.
8 -	Check front axle camber and adjust if necessary. Refer to FRONT AXLE CAMBER, CENTERING .
6 -	Check the rear axle camber and adjust if necessary. Refer to REAR AXLE CAMBER, ADJUSTING .
7 -	Check rear axle toe and adjust if necessary. Refer to REAR AXLE TOE, ADJUSTING .
9 -	Check the front axle toe and adjust if necessary. Refer to FRONT AXLE TOE, ADJUSTING .
10 -	If the settings on the front or rear axle were changed: Calibrate the Steering Angle Sensor -G85-. Refer to Steering Angle Sensor -G85- BASIC SETTING .
11 -	If settings on the rear axle have been changed, the driver assist systems must be adjusted/calibrated. Due to the distance between the vehicle and the Setting Device Basic Set :VAS 6430 , the following sequence must be followed: Calibrate the radar sensor (Control Module for Adaptive Cruise Control - J428). Refer to RADAR SENSOR (CONTROL MODULE FOR ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL -J428-), ADJUSTING . Calibrate the night vision system. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
