Rearview Camera System, Calibrating: Notes

Calibration/adjustment must be performed if:
- The installation position of the Rearview Camera -R189- has been changed in the vehicle.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
- Calibration Tool :VAS 6350A
- Calibration Tool - Spacing Laser :VAS 6350/2A
- Calibration Tool - R8 Wheel Adapters :VAS 6350/5 for rims with a large offset
Preparing for Calibration
- Calibration Tool - Wheel Center Mounting :VAS 6350/1A
- With wheel bolt adapter and measuring paddle
- For rims with a large offset use the Calibration Tool - R8 Wheel Adapters :VAS 6350/5 .
- Calibration Tool - Wheel Center Mounting :VAS 6350/1A
- With wheel bolt adapter and measuring paddle
- For rims with a large offset use the Calibration Tool - R8 Wheel Adapters :VAS 6350/5 .
- Right Catch Bracket
- To mount the Spacing Laser :VAS 6350/2A for the distance measurement
- Plastic Foot
- Quantity: 3
- Adjustable for adjusting the horizontal position of the Calibration Tool :VAS 6350A
- Calibration Tool - Linear Laser :VAS 6350/3A
- With "laser protective eyewear"

- Level
- On the Calibration Tool :VAS 6350A
- For checking the horizontal position
- Left Catch Bracket
- To mount the Spacing Laser :VAS 6350/2A for the distance measurement
- Calibration Tool :VAS 6350A
- Between the catch bracket on the calibration board and the Calibration Tool - Wheel Center Mountings :VAS 6350/1A , dimension -a- 1.40 m (4.6 feet) through 2.00 m (6.6 feet).
Preliminary Work
- Move the vehicle onto a solid, flat surface.
- Move the wheels so that they are straight.
- For vehicles with rear axle steering, steer the rear axle to the zero position. Refer to REAR AXLE STEERING . This is the only way to ensure that the rear axle steering is in the straight-ahead position.
- Vehicles without air suspension: deflect the springs several times and let settle.
- Electromechanical parking brake applied.
- Clean the camera lens on the Rearview Camera -R189-.
- All the vehicle doors are closed.
- Connect the battery charger for the battery support mode. Refer to BATTERY, CHARGING .
- Before starting the calibration/adjustment, check the DTC memory and correct all displayed entries.
