Engine Cranks But Will Not Start

  1. Check current flow to fuel shut off solenoid. Turn ignition switch to "Run" position. Using a 12-volt test lamp, check to see that voltage is available at solenoid. If test is okay, go to step 2). If test is not okay, repair or replace circuit as necessary and repeat test.
  2. Test fuel shut-off solenoid. With ignition switch in "Run" position, disconnect and connect connector at fuel shut-off solenoid. If solenoid clicks, go to step 3). If solenoid does not click, replace fuel shut-off solenoid and repeat test.
  3. Test fuel flow by loosening injector nozzle line nut and crank engine. If fuel discharges, see GLOW PLUGS. If the fuel does not discharge, see INJECTOR NOZZLES.
