SITUATION
When cleaning the engine compartment or undercarriage, special care should be taken not to directly contact the steering column universal joints with the stream from a steam cleaner or high pressure washer.
The stream from these types of cleaners can penetrate the universal joint, washing out the grease in the joint. This leads to corrosion in the joint, which can cause an increase in steering stiffness.
