Evaporative Purge Valve
- Disconnect evaporative purge valve. Turn ignition on and ensure 12 volts are present between evaporative purge valve connector Red/White wire and ground. If voltage is not present, check battery feed through fusible link (under right rear seat) and main relay (in control box at right or left shock tower).
- Ensure continuity is present between evaporative purge valve connector Brown wire and MCU terminal No. 5. If no continuity is indicated, repair or replace wiring. Manually apply 12 volts to terminal No. 1 and ground terminal No. 2 of evaporative purge valve. Ensure valve operates. Resistance of evaporative purge valve is 25-65 ohms. Replace evaporative purge valve if necessary.
- If no problem is found, reconnect all circuits and erase trouble codes from MCU memory. Test drive vehicle and recheck for trouble codes. If no codes are present, problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TESTS W/O CODES . If codes are still present, replace MCU with a known good unit.
