Section 14 (Differential): Description

Final drive assembly consists of hypoid type ring and pinion gear. Assembly may have a multi-disc, self-locking differential (ZF DL-175 ). Housing has removable rear cover. Differential carrier is retained to the sides of housing by bearing caps and supported by tapered roller bearings.
Shims under the bearing caps maintain proper carrier bearing preload. Drive pinion gear is supported by roller bearings and preload is maintained by a collapsible spacer between the bearings.
