Bleeding With Abs/ASC+T: Notes

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 21 other vehicles, including the 1995 BMW 540i, 1995 BMW 530iT, 1995 BMW 530i, 1995 BMW 525i, and 1994 BMW 540i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Whenever repairs or replacement of components such as brake master cylinder or ASC+T hydraulic unit are performed, or anything between these, a revised bleeding procedure must be followed. If repairs are downstream of the ASC+T hydraulic unit, normal pressure bleeding procedures for ABS equipped cars must be followed. See BLEEDING WITH ABS  .

Bleeding brakes in ASC+T equipped cars requires a pressure bleeder and is a muli-step procedure.

NOTE: ASC+T hydraulic control unit must be bled prior to bleeding wheel calipers. See BLEEDING ASC+T HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT  .
CAUTION: DO NOT exceed 29 psi (2 kg/cm2 ) of pressure as damage to reservoir will occur.

Top off reservoir with the proper brake fluid and connect pressure bleeder to reservoir. Pressurize system approximately 14.5 psi (1 kg/cm2 ).
