SITUATION

EWS3D was introduced on all 318ti and Z3 vehicles produced from September, 1998. When attempting to code a replacement EWS3D module, DIS displays the message "Coding data incorrect".

The problem will be corrected in DIS V16.0, available January, 1999.

CORRECTION

Fit precoded EWS3D module, until DIS V16.0 is available.

PROCEDURE

Place a VIN specific parts order, using either DCS2000, or fax, and BMW Parts Dept will automatically route the order to Germany for supply of a precoded EWS3D module.
