DIS V51 Release Notes
SITUATION
The following service information covers the release notes for DIS V51. This information can always be accessed directly from the DIS/GT1 Diagnosis Start screen.
CAUSE
DIS software errors
INFORMATION
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: AUTOMATIC DEACTIVATION OF TERMINAL 15.
E60, E61, E63, E64 vehicles produced from 9/2007
When Terminal 15 is left on with the engine off, Terminal 15 is automatically switched off when the driver's door is opened or closed. Pressing the Start/Stop button permanently switches Terminal 15 back on.
Always carry out this procedure before programming or performing diagnosis on a vehicle.
IMPROVED FEATURES
CAS (Car Access System E60, E61, E63, E64, E90, E91, E92, E93):
Adaptation of the "START/STOP button" and "Electric steering lock" test plans. The test plans for fault memories relating to the ELV have been improved.
Telephone (TCU, MULF or ULF)
- Expansion of fault symptom catalogues and test routines for stored faults
- Adaptation of fault symptom structure (I-Bus)
MISCELLANEOUS
Energy diagnostics (E60, E61, E63, E64, E70, E90, E91, E92, E93 from 9/2007):
Adaptation of energy diagnostics for the situation whereby the CAS, LM (Light Module) or FRM (Footwell Module) are preventing the vehicle from entering sleep mode or are waking the vehicle too frequently. The cause of the fault is registered in the control module concerned and displayed in the energy diagnostics.
Possibility to read the ZCS (Central Coding Key):
For vehicles with ZCS, it is possible to read the ZCS under "Control Module functions". This function depends on the instrument cluster fitted and is therefore not available for all vehicles with ZCS.
MECHANICAL DIAGNOSTICS
Mechanical diagnostics have been created or expanded for the following systems:
- Heating and air-conditioning functions (E70):
- The "Refrigerant circuit" test plan has been expanded with known fault symptoms associated with noise.
- The fault symptom test plan associated with "insufficient or not cooling output" as been added to the diagnosis system.
- Panoramic sunroof (E70): A new test plan has been added for "Panoramic sunroof noises".
- Retractable hard top (E93): The existing test plan for the retractable hard top has been expanded with new fault symptoms.
- Interior (E70): A new test plan has been added for "Headlining noise".
FAULT SYMPTOM SELECTION
Fault symptoms for the following systems have been newly created, or existing fault symptoms expanded, to handle problems without a fault code memory entry:
- CCC (Car Communication Computer)
- MASK ( Multi Audio System Controller)
- RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment) E70.
- Instrument Cluster (E60, E61, E63, E64)
- HUD (Head-up Display) E70
- Active seat ventilation (E60, E61, E63, E64, E65, E66)
- Active seat (E60, E61, E63, E64)
- Seat heating (E90, E91, E92, E93, E60, E61, E63, E64, E70)
- Blower (E90, E91, E92, E93, E60, E61, E63, E64, E70)
Fault symptom "0000 Latest fault symptoms from online update" will in future list important fault symptoms that can be received through JETstream updates. These fault symptoms are integrated into the conventional fault symptom selection with the release of DIS-DVD 52.0.
MODIFICATIONS IN DIAGNOSTICS BASED ON FEEDBACK CONCERNING THE BMW DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM (EXTRACT)
- Error in the "CCC: malfunction" test plan corrected (all vehicles with CCC)
- Error in the "Remote control-key/personal ID code" test plan has been corrected (all vehicles with CAS)
- Faulty routine in the "Idling quality" test plan corrected (all vehicles with N52 or N54)
- Faulty routine in the "Telephone power supply/fault code memory" test plan corrected (E53)
- Faulty routine in the "Reset internal ELV counter" service function corrected (all vehicles with electric steering lock)
In total, approximately 120 faults have been corrected with the release of DIS V51 based on the feedback concerning the BMW diagnostic system.
TEST MODULES WITH MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGY
Test modules that are contained in the test plan but cannot be started (grayed out) require the use of measurement technology. This behavior can occur with the GT1 if the Measurements Interface Box (MIB) is not connected. The test module concerned can be started following connection of the MIB. The behavior described cannot occur with DISPlus because DISPlus is already integrated with measurement technology.
USE OF OPS/OPPS
Due to the introduction of the D-CAN, the optical programming system (OPS) or optical testing and programming system (OPPS) must be used in conjunction with the associated cable (green marking and "CAN included" label) for diagnostics on the following series:
- E60, E61 from model year 03/2007
- E83 from model year 09/2006
- E90, E91, E92, E93 from model year 03/2007
- E70 (new X5)
