DIS V56 Release Notes
SITUATION
The following Service Information covers the release notes for DIS V56. This information can always be accessed directly from the DIS/GT1 Diagnosis start screen.
CAUSE
DIS software errors/improvements
INFORMATION
E60, E61, E63, and E64 vehicles produced from 9/2007
E82, E88, E70, E71, E90, E91, E92 and E93 vehicles produced from 3/2008
When Terminal 15 is left on with the engine off, Terminal 15 is automatically switched off when the driver's door is opened or closed. Pressing the Start/Stop button permanently switches Terminal 15 back on.
New and improved features and functions
- E92 and E93 with the S65 engine - Improved test plan "Relative time" for DME fault code "2AFD relative time plausibility". If the fault "2AFD" is stored and the vehicle has more than 62 miles, the vehicle must be programmed with the latest software (E89X-08-03-520 or higher) before component replacement. If the vehicle has less than 62 miles, then the fault can be deleted without any further action.
- E92 and E93 with the S65 engine - Improved test plan "Oil condition sensor" for DME fault code "2B5A Plausibility check oil temperature at oil condition sensor". If fault "2B5A" is stored, the vehicle must be programmed with the latest software (E89X-08-03-520 or higher) before replacement of the oil condition sensor.
Miscellaneous
- Expansion of the fault pattern catalogue and testing procedures for stored faults for USB functions on the control unit ULF-SBX-H.
- Information regarding USB function on the control unit ULF-SBX-H in conjunction with the Car Information Computer (CIC): Only music files from USB players can be played via the USB port in the center console. Music files that need to be loaded to the hard disk of the CIC need to be loaded via the USB port in the glove box.
- E60, E61, E63, E64, E65, E66, E70, E71, E82, E88, E90, E91, E92 and E93 - The newly created test plan, "Interior mirror", contains the known fault patterns for the interior mirror. The test plan can be called up via the following menu items in the fault pattern selection:
- 511108 fault pattern catalogue for electro chromic interior rearview mirror
- 511109 fault pattern catalogue for garage-door opener
- 511110 fault pattern catalogue for digital compass
- 511111 fault pattern catalogue for interior mirror mechanical system.
Mechanical diagnosis (symptom)
As a means of dealing with problems without entries in the fault-code memory, new symptoms have been created for the following mechanical systems; and in some cases, existing symptoms have been expanded. Diagnosis for mechanical problems can be called up by selection of the symptoms as stated in symptom selection.
- E82, E88, E90, E91 and E92 front seats - A new test plan for the fault pattern "520009 noises at front seat" contains the known fault patterns for the front seats.
- E70 panorama glass sunroof - A new test plan for fault pattern "540013 water leaks at the panorama glass sunroof" contains the known fault patterns for water entry at the panorama sunroof.
- E53, E61, E83 and E91 panorama glass sunroof - The existing test plan for fault pattern "540012 noises at panorama glass sunroof" has been extended and adapted to include the repair measures.
Electrical diagnosis (symptom)
For troubleshooting without fault memory, new fault symptoms have been created for the following systems, or existing fault patterns have been expanded:
- Car Communication Computer (CCC)
- Car Information Computer (CIC)
- Multi Audio System Controller (M-ASK)
- Rear Entertainment System (RSE)
- DVD Changer
Fault symptom "0000 Latest fault symptoms from online update" will, in the future, list important fault symptoms that can be received through online updates. These fault symptoms are integrated into the conventional fault symptom selection with the next release of the diagnosis software.
Approximately 50 faults and/or improvements have been implemented in DIS V56, based on diagnosis feedback. For information on Diagnosis Feedback, refer to SI B07 06 06 .
Test modules with measurement technology
Test modules that are contained in the test plan but cannot be started (grayed out) require the use of measurement technology. This behavior can occur with the GT1 if the Measurements Interface Box (MIB) is not connected. The test module concerned can be started following connection of the MIB. The behavior described cannot occur with DISPlus, because DISPlus is already integrated into the measurement technology.
Use of OPS/OPPS
Due to the introduction of the D-CAN, the optical programming system (OPS) or optical testing and programming system (OPPS) must be used in conjunction with the associated cable (green marking and "CAN included" label) for diagnostics on the following Series:
E60 and E61 from model year 03/2007
E83 from model year 09/2006
E90, E91, E92, and E93 from model year 09/2007
E70 (X5)
E71 (X6)
E82, E88 (1 Series)
