E39, E46, E52, E53, E85 Vehicles with DVD Navigation System

INFORMATION

The DVD Map is now available.

DVD Navigation (Option 609) was introduced on E39, E46 and E52 vehicles from 9/02, and on E53 and E85 from 10/02 production.

With the introduction of the new navigation DVD map disk, vehicles equipped with a DVD navigation system only require 1 map disk for the entire US and Canada, compared to the 8 different regional maps with the CD-Rom based system.

IMPORTANT: Before installing the DVD map disk the first time, all stored entries in the 'Address Book' and in 'Destinations' must be deleted.

If these entries are not deleted, the display will lock up when the DVD map is installed and "Please wait" will be displayed on the screen.

In cases where the customers complain about "Please wait" insert the Map CD back into the NAV computer and erase all stored addresses in the 'Address Book' and in 'Destinations'.

Then reinstall the DVD map disk.

CURRENT CUSTOMER DELIVERED DVD NAVIGATION EQUIPPED VEHICLES

All MY2003 E46, E39, E52, E53 and E85 customers who received a regional CD-ROM disk at delivery with their DVD navigation system will receive a DVD map disk.

Mailings of this DVD map disk directly to the customer commenced end of December 2002, using the address information that was provided by you on the original navigation CD order form. Any necessary loading instructions will be included.

No action is required by the center

IN INVENTORY VEHICLES

In order to equip current DVD navigation vehicles in your inventory (E39, E46, E52, E53, E85) with a DVD map disk, please follow the current navigation software process by filling out the order form (refer to Aftersales Parts Bulletin 84 04 02) and fax it to NavTech when the vehicle is retailed.

You should continue to use this process until vehicles arrive at your center from the VDC with the DVD in them.

All E39, E46 and E52 vehicles with DVD navigation processed at the BMW Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC) after December 9th, 2002, will be delivered to your center with a DVD navigation disk in the vehicle. When receiving vehicles processed after this date into inventory, please make sure that the DVD navigation disk is in the vehicle.

E85 AND E53 VEHICLES WITH DVD NAVIGATION

Please continue to use the same ordering process to order a new DVD map disk directly from NavTech as outlined in Aftersales Parts Bulletin 84 04 02.

This process will be changed early 2003 to include the DVD navigation disk in the vehicles.

Important Information:

With the introduction of DVD navigation, customers will not receive an updated DVD disk one year after purchase. If a customer desires an updated DVD in the future, they will be able to purchase this DVD directly from your center using the parts information below.
