Tire Pressure Monitor System Initialization

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 13 other vehicles, including the 2005 BMW 760i, 2005 BMW 760Li, 2005 BMW 745i, 2005 BMW 745Li, and 2004 BMW 760i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Driving the vehicle is necessary to complete the reset procedure. The drive can be interrupted at any time. When driving resumes, the initialization is continued automatically.
CAUTION: When driving with snow chains, DO NOT initialize the system.
  1. Set the tire pressure of all wheels to specification.
  2. Start engine, but do not start driving.
  3. On Control Center, select "RPA" (on some vehicles select "FTM") from the "SETTINGS" menu and confirm selection. The initialization menu will appear. See Fig 1.
  4. Select "SET" and confirm selection.
  5. Drive vehicle. The message "FTM IS BEING INITIALIZED" will be displayed. See Fig 2.
    NOTE: It takes at least 10 minutes before the TPM system can detect and report a flat tire.
  6. Select the "return" arrow button and confirm to exit from menu.
