Introduction of D-CAN Communication Protocol

SITUATION

With the models above begin the introduction of D-CAN protocol into BMW vehicles which will also be phased into most of the product line by MY 2008. In order to properly diagnose or program these vehicles an OPS head and a correct OPS OBD cable must be used. This cable can be identified by the inscription "CAN included" on the OBD plug end as shown in Fig 1.

Refer to SI B07 02 06 for additional information on exchanging all OPS cables which were not manufactured correctly.

Another "CAN included" cable is being developed for the original yellow OPPS heads and once they are available 07 02 06 will be revised.
