SUBJECT

Various Electrical Problems 

SITUATION

Various electrical problems may occur permanently or intermittently. Symptoms typically include various warning lamps in the Instrument Cluster and starting problems. Affected may be the EKP (Electronically controlled fuel pump), and control modules on the PT CAN or connected to the 15WUP (wake up) line. Fuse F70 may be blown.

CAUSE

The wiring harness is pinched at the lower mounting point of the right hand side cross brace behind the rear seat backrest (see attachment).

PROCEDURE

  1. Remove the rear seat backrest (refer to repair instruction REP 52 24 010).
  2. Remove the cross brace on the right hand side of the vehicle.
  3. Perform wiring repairs on any affected wires (refer to SI B61 01 07 ). Reposition the harness so that it will no longer be pinched when the cross brace is reinstalled.
  4. Reassemble removed parts.
  5. Diagnose and repair any consequential failures.
  6. Delete fault codes.
