11 00 050 Removing and installing engine (-SCR) M57T2
Special tools required
Necessary preliminary work:
- Clamp off battery earth lead. (FOLLOW NOTES FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY )
- Disconnect positive battery cable from connection point
- Move ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID into working position
- Remove acoustic cover
- Remove INTAKE PLENUM
- Remove right PRESSURE PIPE
- Remove left PRESSURE PIPE
- Release ENGINE WIRING HARNESS from electronics box
- Drain COOLANT
- Remove RADIATOR
- Remove DRIVE BELT FOR ALTERNATOR
- Release POWER STEERING PUMP and place to one side
- Remove front/middle UNDERBODY PROTECTION
- Release AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR and place to one side
- Remove GEARBOX
Recycling
Catch and dispose of escaping fuel with auxiliary materials.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Release screws (1,2).
Remove heater end panel (3).
Installation note:
Make sure heater end panel is correctly seated.
M6x20 bolt must be fitted in middle.
Unlock and detach coolant hose (1).
Unlock and detach coolant hose (1) from radiator at top.
Unlock and detach vacuum line (1).
Release coolant hose (2) for heating and detach.
Release and disconnect coolant hoses (1).
Unfasten and detach coolant hose (1) from expansion tank.
Unclip coolant hose (2) from expansion tank.
Detach connector (3) below expansion tank from coolant level switch.
Release bolts (4) on expansion tank.
Unfasten and detach coolant hose (5) below expansion tank.
Remove expansion tank.
Release coolant hose (6) from water valve and detach.
Unlock fuel feed and return lines (1) and disconnect.
Detach vacuum hose (2) for engine mount.
Secure engine wiring harness (2) on engine against falling out.
Fit special tool 11 0 020 on engine.
Risk of damage .
Only raise engine at the lifting lugs (1) provided for this purpose.
Release nut (1) on left and right engine support arms.
Installation note:
Replace nuts (1).
Release earth strap on left engine support arm.
Remove left engine support arm.
Unclip lines.
Release screws (1) and remove engine support arm.
Assemble engine.
FILL cooling system and check for tightness. Check engine oil level.
