SUBJECT
CIS Seat Mat Replacement
SITUATION
Installation of a new CIS (capacitive sensing passenger occupancy mat) will not enable with ISTA/P.
CAUSE
Wrong coding in the spare part from the supplier
CORRECTION
This is an update to a topic presented in the February 2013 SRT (Service Roundtable).
The pictures below are for a CIS seat mat that has the correct coding. The label should contain "CIS sparepart" or the German word "Gepruft" (tested).
Install the replacement CIS mat in the vehicle and code the ACSM (Advanced Crash Safety Module) with ISTA/P.
If the correct label is present; the new mat failed to enable; and the below faults are present, create a PuMA case for assistance. Make sure to attach a digital picture of the new seat mat to the case, as well as the original reason why the seat mat is being replaced.
If there is no label on the seat mat, reorder the new seat and submit a TTS PuMA case to the Parts Consultant Group, requesting assistance in obtaining the correct seat mat.
Following ACSM faults are present if the CIS mat is not enabled:
- FC 9309ED - ODS-system: seat occupancy sensor Passenger: not yet enabled
- FC 9309F4 - ODS-system: seat occupancy sensor Passenger: could not be enabled
