61 31 008 Removing and installing steering column switch cluster

WARNING: Move wheels into straight-ahead position and do not alter this position during the repair work.
Do not under any circumstances turn the steering column switch cluster when the steering wheel is removed.

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove steering wheel . See 32 33 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING STEERING WHEEL or 32 33 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SPORT STEERING WHEEL .
REMOVE LOWER SECTION OF STEERING COLUMN TRIM .

Removal:

Unfasten screws (2).

Remove steering column switch cluster (1) in direction of arrow.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Remove steering column switch cluster (2).

Installation:

Connect the plug (1).

Installation note:

Check zero position of clock spring on steering column switch cluster.

Zero position is correct only when yellow mark (1) is clearly visible!

Install steering column switch cluster (3) in direction of arrow.

Tighten down screws (2).

Tightening torque 61 31 3AZ .

Replacement:

Carry out VEHICLE PROGRAMMING/ENCODING .

Required follow-up work:

Install steering wheel . See 32 34 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING AIRBAG UNIT or 32 33 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SPORT STEERING WHEEL .
INSTALL STEERING COLUMN SHROUD LOWER SECTION .
