Instrument cluster self-test
The self-test of the instrument cluster enables a simple visual assessment of the display functions in the instrument cluster:
- Mechanical instrument dials and their backlighting
- Displays, including segment test and backlighting
- Indicator lights and warning lights
- Turn indicators with acoustic output
Calling up the self-test via the test functions:
- The self-test can only be started when terminal 15 is active, the vehicle is at a standstill and the engine is switched off.
- The test functions are called up with the reset button of the trip distance recorder. This button must be held down for longer than 15 seconds.
- A menu with the individual test functions now appears in the display of the instrument cluster. Continuing to press briefly on the reset button of the trip distance recorder then navigates between the selected test functions.
- Pressing on this button for longer selects the displayed test function or a sub-menu. Here, the self-test of the instrument cluster is called a system test. In the sub-menu, the self-test can be carried out through the following selection:
Start system test
- The self-test can be started by pressing briefly on the reset button of the trip distance recorder. Pressing this button for longer returns to the main menu.
- In some models the test functions are numbered. In this case, the self-test is started directly through the following selection:
System test 02
NOTE:
In some models, the indication range of the test functions is superimposed with the Check Control messages. In these models, the test functions cannot be displayed if there is a safety-relevant Check
Control message. In this case, the cause of the safety-relevant Check Control message must be rectified before the self-test can be started.
Calling up the self-test via the test module:
- A test module is also provided that starts the self-test automatically.
- The test module can be found in the following path:
Body \ display and information functions \ instrument cluster \ instrument cluster control unit \ instrument cluster self-test
- In this case, carry out the following test module and follow the instructions in the test module: Instrument panel: Self-test
