Control Arm: Removal

  1. Raise and support front of vehicle.
  2. Remove front wheel.
  3. Remove engine underguard.51 11 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE FRONT BUMPER (FROM 10/01)
  4. Remove reinforcement cross brace. See REINFORCEMENT CROSS BRACE .
  5. Remove reinforcement plate. See REINFORCEMENT PLATE .
  6. Remove retaining bracket (1) of angle joint from control arm (2). See Figure.
  7. Unfasten nut. Strike off control arm ball joint with a plastic hammer. Take off control arm.
  8. Unscrew and remove nut. Press control arm off steering knuckle with special tool (32 3 090). See Figure.
  9. Remove control arm bracket from engine support. See Figure.
  10. If replacing control arms, derust the stub axle in the area of the contact face of the rubber sleeve and replace brackets on both. See CONTROL ARM BRACKETS .
  11. Fit control arm with same identification only.
