Overhaul - 250C: Description

The Turbo Hydra-Matic 250C transmission is a fully automatic unit consisting primarily of a 3 element hydraulic torque converter and 2 planetary gear sets. Three multi-disc clutches, one roller clutch, and an adjustable intermediate band provide friction elements required to obtain desired function of 2 planetary gear sets. A hydraulic system pressurized by a gear type pump provides working pressure required to operate friction elements and automatic controls.

In addition, a torque converter clutch has been added to this transmission. The converter clutch assembly consists of a 3 element torque converter with the addition of a converter clutch. The converter clutch is splined to the turbine assembly, and when operated, applies against converter cover, providing mechanical direct drive coupling of engine-to-transmission planetary gears. When converter clutch is released, assembly operates as a normal torque converter.
