Axle Shafts - Front: Description

Power is transferred from transaxle to drive wheels by flexible axle shafts with an inner and outer CV joint. Inner CV joints have the capability of in and out movement. Axle shafts, except left inner of automatic transaxles, use a male splined end and interlock with transaxle gears by a snap ring. Left inner axle shaft on automatic transaxle models use a female splined end and interlocks with protruding stub shaft. "J" body models use an intermediate shaft to connect to transaxle. Some models use dampers on the right side axle shafts. See Fig 1 and Figure.
