Test B - Pass Key Decoder Module Test

PASS KEY DECODER MODULE VOLTAGE TEST ⁽¹⁾

Measure Between

Correct Voltage

A1 (PNK/BLK) & Ground

⁽²⁾ Battery

B8 (ORN) & Ground

⁽³⁾ Battery

A1 (PNK/BLK) & B1 (BLK/WHT)

⁽⁴⁾ Battery

A2 (DK BLU) & B1 (BLK/WHT)

⁽⁵⁾ 5 Volts

A3 (BLK/YEL) & Ground ⁽⁶⁾

⁽⁷⁾ Battery

NOTE: If all voltages are correct, go to PASS KEY DECODER MODULE RESISTANCE TEST .

⁽¹⁾	Measure voltage at PASS Key Decoder Module with connector disconnected and ignition switch in RUN.

⁽²⁾	Check the PNK/BLK (439) wire and EC14/Ignition Fuse 5 for an open

⁽³⁾	Check the ORN (480) wire for an open.

⁽⁴⁾	Check the BLK/WHT (803) wire for an open.

⁽⁵⁾	Check the DK BLU (229) wire for an open, short to Battery or a short to ground. If wire is good, replace ECM.

⁽⁶⁾	Ignition Switch in START

⁽⁷⁾	Check BLK/YEL (625) wire for an open. if wire is good, do TEST C.

PASS KEY DECODER MODULE RESISTANCE TEST ⁽¹⁾

Measure Between

Correct Resistance

A6 (PPL/WHT) & Ground

⁽²⁾ Open

A6 (PPL/WHT) & B2 (WHT/BLK)

⁽³⁾ Open

A6 (PPL/WHT) & B2 (WHT/BLK) ⁽⁴⁾

⁽⁵⁾ 380 to 12.3K ohms

NOTE: If all resistance measurements are correct but engine will not crank, replace the PASS Key Decoder Module.

⁽¹⁾	Measure resistance at PASS Key Decoder Module with connector disconnect and no key in Ignition Switch.

⁽²⁾	Check PPL/WHT(1074) wire for a short to ground. The short may be in the steering column.

⁽³⁾	Check WHT/BLK (1073) and PPL/ WHT (1074) wires for shorts between the two wires. The short may be in the steering column.

⁽⁴⁾	Check with key in Ignition

⁽⁵⁾	Check WHT/BLK (1073) and PPL/WHT (1074) wires for an open.
