Test E: Valve Control

NOTE: Data Link Connector (DLC) may also be referred to as Assembly Line Diagnostic Link (ALDL) connector.
  1. Turn ignition off. Reconnect PMV Black C1 harness connector. Disconnect EBCM/EBTCM harness connector. Connect Pinout Box (J-38716). Disconnect main relay harness connector.
  2. Using DVOM, measure resistance between pinout box pin No. 3 and left front inlet solenoid valve terminal No. 20. See Figure . Resistance should be less than 10 ohms. Measure resistance between pinout box pin No. 3 and right front inlet solenoid valve terminal No. 38. Resistance should be less than 10 ohms.
  3. Measure resistance between pinout box pin No. 3 and left rear inlet solenoid valve terminal No. 54. Resistance should be less than 10 ohms. Measure resistance between pinout box pin No. 3 and right rear inlet solenoid valve terminal No. 55. Resistance should be less than 10 ohms.
  4. Measure resistance between pinout box pin No. 3 and left front outlet solenoid valve terminal No. 2. Resistance should be less than 10 ohms. Measure resistance between pinout box pin No. 3 and right front outlet solenoid valve terminal No. 21. Resistance should be less than 10 ohms.
  5. Measure resistance between pinout box pin No. 3 and left rear outlet solenoid valve terminal No. 36. Resistance should be less than 10 ohms. Measure resistance between pinout box pin No. 3 and right rear outlet solenoid valve terminal No. 18. Resistance should be less than 10 ohms.
  6. If any reading is not as specified, check and repair open in suspect solenoid valve wiring.
  7. Measure resistance between DLC terminal "A" and left front inlet solenoid valve terminal No. 20. Resistance should be infinite. Measure resistance between DLC terminal "A" and right front inlet solenoid valve terminal No. 38. Resistance should be infinite.
  8. Measure resistance between DLC terminal "A" and left rear inlet solenoid valve terminal No. 54. Resistance should be infinite. Measure resistance between DLC terminal "A" and right rear inlet solenoid valve terminal No. 55. Resistance should be infinite.
  9. Measure resistance between DLC terminal "A" and left front outlet solenoid valve terminal No. 2. Resistance should be infinite. Measure resistance between DLC terminal "A" and right front outlet solenoid valve terminal No. 21. Resistance should be infinite.
  10. Measure resistance between DLC terminal "A" and left rear outlet solenoid valve terminal No. 36. Resistance should be infinite. Measure resistance between DLC terminal "A" and right rear outlet solenoid valve terminal No. 18. Resistance should be infinite.
  11. If all readings are within specifications, go to TEST W  . If any reading is not as specified, check and repair short to ground in appropriate solenoid valve wiring. If wiring is okay, check EBCM/EBTCM connector terminals for poor contact. If EBCM/EBTCM connector terminals are okay, replace EBCM/EBTCM. See ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE/ELECTRONIC BRAKE TRACTION CONTROL MODULE (EBCM/EBTCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  12. After all repairs are complete, clear codes, and repeat ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK  .
