Power Adjuster Assembly: Disassembly

CAUTION: Failure to place the power adjuster in a bench vise before removing the rear vertical gearnut will cause ejection of the compressed assist spring and possible personal injury.
  1. Remove the rear vertical gearnut (55). See Fig 1 .Place power adjuster (45) in a bench vise and remove the rear vertical gearnut nut (55). See Figure and Fig 1 .

  2. Open the vise slowly to relieve assist spring compression and remove the power adjuster (45) from the vise. See Figure .
  3. Remove the vertical assist spring (51). Remove front vertical gearnut nut (54). See Fig 1 .
  4. Remove the screws (43) from the adjuster horizontal actuator (44). See Fig 1 .
  5. Remove the adjuster horizontal actuator (44). Remove the gearnut screws (56). See Fig 1 .
  6. Remove the rear vertical gearnut (52). Remove the front vertical gearnut (50). See Fig 1 .
