Retrieving Fault Codes
- If no faults were found in CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK
, check for presence of fault codes. Use Tech 1 to retrieve fault codes. To check for fault codes without a Tech 1 Scan tester, use a jumper wire to connect ALDL connector terminals "A" and "D" together. See Fig 1

- Observe warning light in dash to read fault codes. See appropriate G - TEST W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section for complete procedure. If any of following fault codes are stored, cruise control system may be disabled. Repair any fault code problems before diagnosing cruise control system.
- 16 - System Voltage High or Low
- 21 - Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Voltage High
- 22 - Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Voltage Low
- 24 - VSS Circuit Problem
- 36 - Transaxle Shift Problem
- 38 - Brake Switch Circuit Problem
- 61 - Cruise Vent Solenoid Circuit Problem
- 62 - Cruise Vacuum Solenoid Circuit Problem
- 65 - Cruise Servo Position Sensor (SPS) Circuit Problem
- 67 - Cruise Switch Problem
- 68 - Cruise System Problem
