Idle Speed & Mixture: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Chevrolet Caprice and 1994 Buick Roadmaster. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Idle mixture is controlled by Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Adjustment is not possible.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION section before disconnecting battery.
NOTE: On 4.3L, and 5.7L, idle speed is controlled by ECM/PCM. Slight fluctuations in idle speed are considered normal. Adjustment is not required. Refer to IAC VALVE RESET procedure.
