Low Coolant Indicator Test

  1. If coolant level is low and LOW COOLANT LEVEL indicator is inoperative, go to step 3). If LOW COOLANT LEVEL indicator is on and coolant level is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Disconnect low engine coolant indicator probe connector. If LOW COOLANT LEVEL indicator comes on, disconnect IPC connector C1. Check for short to ground in Gray wire. If wire is okay, replace IPC. If LOW COOLANT LEVEL indicator does not come on, check connections at low engine coolant indicator probe. If connections are okay, replace low engine coolant indicator probe.
  3. If coolant level is low and LOW COOLANT LEVEL indicator is inoperative, turn ignition on. Disconnect low engine coolant indicator probe connector. Check for battery voltage between connector terminal "A" (Gray wire) and ground.
  4. If battery voltage is present, check low coolant indicator probe Black ground wire for an open circuit. If wire is okay, replace low engine coolant indicator probe. If battery voltage is not present, check for an open circuit in low engine coolant indicator probe Gray wire. Also check indicator bulb. If wire and bulb are okay, replace IPC.
