Test Description

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart. Use only 10-megohm (minimum) DVOM for all voltage and resistance tests.
  1. Checks if Code 16 is also set as current or history. If Code 16 is present, proceed to that chart first.
  2. Verifies if malfunction is currently present.
  3. Verifies ABS enable relay can be turned on and provide voltage to EBCM.
  4. Checks for high resistance in switched battery input circuit from ABS enable relay to EBCM.
  5. Checks for high resistance in switched battery circuit from battery to ABS enable relay.
  6. Verifies condition of ABS enable relay.
  7. Checks for poor terminal contact or corrosion at connectors.
  8. Determines if EBCM is the cause of malfunction.
  9. Checks for high resistance in entire relay coil circuit.
  10. Verifies proper battery condition.
  11. Verifies proper voltage is available at ABS enable relay.
  12. Checks for an open in switched battery input circuit from relay to EBCM.
  13. Verifies condition of ABS enable relay.
  14. Checks for proper resistance of relay coil.
  15. Checks for high resistance in ABS enable relay control circuit between ABS enable relay and EBCM.
  16. Checks for high resistance in ABS enable relay control circuit between battery and ABS enable relay.
