Remote Activation Verification Malfunction

  1. Turn headlight switch to HEAD position. If headlights are illuminated go to next step. If head lights are not illuminated, see HEADLIGHT article.
  2. Turn off headlights. Momentarily depress horn switch. If horn sounds, go to next step. If horn does not sound, see HORNS article.
  3. If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic was not performed, see BODY CONTROL MODULE article.
  4. Close all doors. While observing door locks, Depress RKE transmitter LOCK, then depress UNLOCK button twice. If doors locked, then unlocked, go to next step. If doors did not lock, then unlock, see LOCK, UNLOCK, AND/OR ALARM FUNCTIONS INOPERATIVE; TRUNK LID RELEASE FUNCTION OKAY.
  5. Set remote unlock verification to mode 4. See procedures in REMOTE UNLOCK CONTROL CUSTOMIZATION  . Set remote lock verification to mode 4. See REMOTE LOCK CONTROL CUSTOMIZATION  . While observing headlights and listening to horn, depress RKE transmitter LOCK button once, then depress UNLOCK twice. If upon depressing RKE transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons, headlights flashed and horn sounded, system okay. If upon depressing RKE transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons, headlights did not flash and horn did not sound, go to next step
  6. Replace BCM. Verify system operation.
  7. Turn ignition to LOCK position. Reinstall connectors/components removed. Check BCM for DTCs. If any DTCs present, see BODY CONTROL MODULE article. If no DTCs are present, system is okay. Verify system operation.
