PRNDL Display Malfunctioning With No Loss Of Serial Data

- Using scan tool, monitor PCM. If GEAR POSITION matches PRNDL display, go to appropriate TESTS W/CODES

- TESTS W/CODES - 2.4L
- TESTS W/CODES - 3.1L
If GEAR POSITION does not match PRNDL display, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, monitor BFC SPI serial data link. If BFC command does not match TRANSAXLE RANGE reading from PCM, replace BFC. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . If PRNDL display on instrument cluster does not match GEAR POSITION reading, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article.
