DTC B1015: VIN Information Error: Description

Body Control Module (BCM) uses the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to learn what Buick model the BCM is installed. When ignition is in on position, the PCM sends a signal along class 2 serial data line to BCM. The BCM will compare the VIN sent from the PCM with VIN digits 2 through 5 stored in BCM memory.

DTC B1015 will set when stored VIN digit No. 5 does not match PCM sent VIN.

When BCM stored VIN No. 5 and PCM VIN No. 5 match, DTC will clear. If conditions for malfunction no longer exist, history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles. DTC B1015 will clear when scan tool is used to clear codes.
