DTC B2552: Backup Lamp Circuit Low: Testing

  1. If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM connector C2. Turn ignition on. Connect test light between BCM connector C2 terminal A12 (Dark Blue wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step  4 .
  3. Reconnect BCM connector C2. Turn ignition on. Clear DTCs using scan tool. Place transmission in reverse. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC B2552 is set, go to step  9 . If DTC B2552 is not set, go to step  13 .
  4. Connect test light between battery voltage and BCM connector C2 terminal A12 (Dark Blue wire). See Figure . If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step  6 .
  5. With test light connected as in previous step, disconnect backup relay. If test light stays on, go to step  10 . If test light does not stay on, go to step  7 .
  6. Connect test light between ground and backup lamp relay connector terminal A1 (Dark Blue wire). If test light comes on, go to step  11 . If test light does not come on, go to step  8 .
  7. Replace backup lamp relay. After repairs, go to step  14 .
  8. Connect test light between ground and backup lamp relay connector terminal C2 (Orange wire). If test light comes on, go to step  7 . If test light does not come on, go to step  12 .
  9. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reprogram BCM. See NEW BCM SETUP  under PROGRAMMING. Go to step  14 .
  10. Repair short to ground in Dark Blue wire between BCM and backup lamp relay. After repairs, go to step  14 .
  11. Repair poor connection or open in Dark Blue wire between BCM and backup lamp relay. After repairs, go to step  14 .
  12. Repair poor connection or open in Orange wire between underhood accessory junction block and backup lamp relay. After repairs, go to step  14 .
  13. System is operating properly at this time. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . After any repairs are made, go to next step.
  14. Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If any DTCs are current, perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. If no DTCs are current, system is operating properly.
