DTC B2553: Backup Lamp Circuit High: Testing
- If BCM diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Disconnect backup lamp relay. Connect test light between backup lamp relay connector terminal A1 (Dar Blue wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 4 .
- With test light connected as in previous step, turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM connectors. Turn ignition on. If test light comes on, go to step 5 . If test light does not come on, go to step 6 .
- Replace backup lamp relay. After repairs, go to step 9 .
- Repair short to battery voltage in Dark Blue wire between BCM and backup lamp relay. After repairs, go to step 9 .
- Turn ignition off and reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Clear DTCs using scan tool. Place transmission in reverse. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC B2553 is set, go to next step. If DTC B2553 is not set, go to step 8 .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reprogram BCM. See NEW BCM SETUP under PROGRAMMING. Go to step 9 .
- System is operating properly at this time. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS . After any repairs are made, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If any DTCs are current, perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS. If no DTCs are current, system is operating properly.
