Removal Procedure

- Turn OFF the ignition switch.
- Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L36) in Engine Mechanical.
- Note the position of the spark plug wires before removing the wires.
- Twist the spark plug boot 1/2 turn before removing the boots.
- Gently pry the heat shield up from the spark plugs using the J 38491 . See Special Tools .
- Remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
- Remove the spark plugs from the engine.
