Compass Magnetic Variation Adjustment

Magnetic variation adjustments are required when compass displays a constant error in heading. Variation is difference between magnetic north and true north due to geographical location.

1. Locate your current geographic location. Refer to variation zone map. See Fig 1 .
2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
3. Press and hold both map light switches or on/off switch on OnStar(R) controls (if equipped) until a zone number appears on compass display.
4. Press both map light switches or on/off switch on OnStar(R) controls (if equipped) to change compass to desired zone.
5. Wait 5 seconds. Display will return to a compass heading. Variance adjustment procedure is now complete.
