Body Control Modules: Description
The body control system consists of the following modules:
- Dash Integration Module (DIM).
- Instrument Panel Module (IPM).
- Rear Integration Module (RIM).
Each of these modules integrate a number of functional systems under the control of a single module. Modules are connected to the class 2 serial data circuit. Many control signals are implemented by class 2 messages. Class 2 serial data circuit is configured as a ring with discrete lines entering and leaving each module. This allows communication on the ring if one of the 2 discrete circuits is open.
The following modules communicate on the class 2 serial data circuit:
- DIM.
- Driver Door Module (DDM).
- Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM).
- Head Up Display (HUD).
- HVAC Control Module.
- Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM).
- Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).
- IPM.
- Memory Seat Module (MSM).
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Radio.
- RIM.
- Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR).
- Remote Playback Device - CD Changer.
- Vehicle Theft Deterrent (VTD) Control Module.
- Vehicle Interface Unit (VIU).
The following modules have only one communication line connection to the class 2 data circuit:
- DDM.
- HUD.
- MSM.
- VIU.
