Test B: Power Window Inoperative From Driver Door Switch

  1. If DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK has been performed, go to next step. If DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK has not been performed, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Ensure power windows are inoperative from Driver Door Switch Assembly (DDSA). If power window system operates from DDSA, repair by appropriate symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  . If power window system does not operate from DDSA, go to next step.
  3. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, observe DRIVER LF WINDOW SW, DRIVER RF WINDOW SW, DRIVER LR WINDOW SW and DRIVER RR WINDOW SW parameters in DDM INPUTS list. Activate each power window switch on DDSA. If parameters changes from IDLE to UP, DOWN, and EXPRESS (for front door windows) states, go to next step. If parameters do not change from IDLE to UP, DOWN, or EXPRESS (for front door windows) states, go to step  12 .
  4. If driver door window is inoperative from DDSA, go to next step. If a passenger door window is inoperative from DDSA, go to TEST C: POWER WINDOW INOPERATIVE FROM PASSENGER DOOR  .
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Black 4-pin Driver Door Module (DDM) harness connector C3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect test light between DDM harness connector C3 terminal "A" (Orange wire) and terminal "D" (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  11
  6. Reconnect Black 4-pin DDM harness connector C3. Disconnect driver door power window motor 2-pin harness connector. Connect test light between ground and driver's power window motor harness connector terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). Activate DDSA left front window switch in UP position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  9 .
  7. Connect test light between ground and driver's power window motor harness connector terminal "B" (Brown wire). Activate DDSA left front window switch in DOWN position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  10 .
  8. Connect test light between driver's power window motor harness connector terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "B" (Brown wire). Activate DDSA left front window switch in UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in UP and DOWN positions, go to step  13 . If test light does not illuminate in UP and DOWN position, go to step  14 .
  9. Check for a short to ground, a high resistance, or an open in Dark Blue wire between DDM and driver's window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary and go to step  19 . If Dark Blue wire is okay, go to step  14 .
  10. Check for a short to ground, a high resistance, or an open in Brown wire between DDM and driver's window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary and go to step  19 . If Brown wire is okay, go to step  14 .
  11. Check for high resistance or an open in Orange wire (voltage supply circuit) between DDM harness connector C3 and PWR WDO circuit breaker in rear fuse block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary and go to step  19 . If Brown wire is okay, go to step  15 .
  12. Check DDSA harness connector for poor connections. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary and go to step  19 . If connections are okay, go to step  16 .
  13. Check driver's window motor harness connector for poor connections. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary and go to step  19 . If connections are okay, go to step  17 .
  14. Check DDM harness connector for poor connections. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary and go to step  19 . If connections are okay, go to step  18 .
  15. Repair open in Black wire (ground circuit) between DDM harness connector C3 and ground point G200, located on lower left front "A" pillar. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Go to step  19 .
  16. Replace inoperative DDSA. See WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  19 .
  17. Replace inoperative driver's window motor. See WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  19 .
  18. Replace inoperative DDM. See DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
  19. Operate system to verify repair. If condition still exists, go to step  2 . If condition no longer exists, system is okay.
