Remote Keyless Entry System Diagnostic System Check

NOTE: Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module may as be referred to as Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) module.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST D: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PARK AVENUE article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Try to establish scan tool communication with Driver Door Module (DDM) and Remote Function Actuation (RFA) module . If communication with modules is established, go to next step. If communication with modules is not established, go to TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PARK AVENUE article.
  3. Select DISPLAY DTC function for DDM. Record all displayed DTCs and status of displayed DTCs. If any DTCs are displayed, go to next step. If no DTCs are displayed, repair remote keyless entry system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
  4. If scan tool does not display DTC U1161, U1162, or U1170, go to next step. If scan tool displays DTC U1161, U1162, or U1170, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PARK AVENUE article.
  5. If scan tool does not display any DTCs that begin with "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs that begin with "U", go to TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PARK AVENUE article.
  6. If scan tool does not display DTC B1000, B1652, B1656, or B1658, go to next step. If scan tool displays DTC B1000, B1652, B1656, or B1658, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PARK AVENUE article.
  7. If scan tool displays DTC B1982 or B1983, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PARK AVENUE article. If scan tool does not display DTC B1982 or B1983, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - PARK AVENUE article.
